the weather is usually good on june, so cookouts are popuar at these juneteenth celebrations. people gather around open-pit, barbacues and almost every community have their owns style to make barbecued beef or pork. since beef and pork were not traditionally availabe every day and communities of freed enslaved people, this was a special treat. warms summers also are great for drinking cold strawberry soda, also historically also popular in these communities
