Why did many senators support bork's nomination,

History
1 answer:
marysya [2.9K]3 years ago
7 0

Well Opposition to his nomination centered on his stated willingness to roll back the civil rights decisions of the Warren and Burger courts and his role in the October 1973 Saturday Night Massacre. On October 23, 1987, the Senate rejected Robert Bork's nomination to the Supreme Court by a roll call vote of 42—58. That's why senators did not support Bork's nomination so it would be the opposite.

Compare and contrast Andrew Jackson's spoils system to the "corrupt bargain" he blamed for his defeat in the 1824 election.
lisabon 2012 [21]

Similarity: Involved employing supporters to office

Henry Clay supported John Quincy Adams during the 1824 election; in return, John Quincy Adams made Henry Clay Secretary of State after defeating Andrew Jackson for the presidency.

During his presidency, Andrew Jackson gave office jobs exclusively to his democratic supporters.

Difference: Not much difference, but the Corrupt Bargain happened during and after an election while the spoils system was developed during Jackson's presidency.
