Explanation:

We can automatically say that B and C are not the answers because they are not stated in the text, there has nothing to do with those choices, and they do not make sense with the story.

In the text it says

Important business of my own,

And other people's too,"

Which means she had important things to do. Sure, she is probably going to meet someone like letter choice A says, but we don't know for sure if she was going to meet someone. What we DO know as we are positive of, is that she has important matters to attend to. Which is what letter choice D says.
