The Florida peninsula is the porous plateau of a karst limestone which is sitting atop of a bedrock called as the Florida Platform. Much of the land of Florida State is surrounded by water on its three sides namely, Gulf of Mexico, The Straits of Florida and the Atlantic Ocean.

Phosphate mining is done heavily in the state of Florida. It occurs mainly in central Florida area. Phosphate mining and the erosion of the coastal area of the Florida peninsula are the two human activities that affects the Florida peninsula.
