An apostrophe may be used for omission when shortening a word. For example:
Do not = don't
Because = 'cause
It's = it has

Hey homie. Compound sentences have a subject and a predicate. Subjects being words like He, she, Remodeling, The neighbors... ect. The predicate will contain the rest of the sentence. Just google the difference between compund and complex and that should help you. Good luck.
