Which choice best summarizes the first
Kipish [7]

The first two paragraphs show that even though she lost both parents at an early age, Jane Fairfax was raised with great joy and love. With that, we can say that option A is the correct answer.

The text you showed doesn't have the first two paragraphs, with the first 14 lines, but we can see that this text is a part of the book "Emma" written by Jane Austen.

Thus, when reading the first paragraphs of this passage, we can see that:

  • The passage is featuring Miss Jane Fairfax.
  • Her parents died when she was a little child and she was raised with her aunt, Mrs. Bates, who is very young.
  • Although we are used to sad stories, the Jane Fairfax story is not like that.
  • That's because the first paragraphs show how she was a very happy child in her aunt's care.
  • That's because Jane's aunt loves her so much and raised her with great care and affection.

In this case, we can summarize these paragraphs, showing that despite losing her parents at a very young age, Jane was raised with joy, love, and affection, as option A shows.

Name and explain the three principles of INGSOC
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

Newspeak, doublethink, and The mutability of the past

Explanation:

1. Newspeak. Newspeak is the official language of all party members, as the purpose is to eliminate all thoughtcrime.

2. Doublethink. Doublethink is very common amongst the Party, and quoting from CliffNotes, “doublethink is the act of holding, simultaneously, two opposite, individually exclusive ideas or opinions and believing in both simultaneously and absolutely. Doublethink requires using logic against logic or suspending disbelief in the contradiction.” The three slogans inside the novel, “War is Peace,” “Freedom is Slavery,” and “Ignorance is Strength,” are all examples of doublethink.

3. The mutability of the past. As Orwell writes in the beginning chapters III and IV, Winston encounters in his memory that Oceania actually allianced with Eurasia and fought against Eastasia, yet all broadcasts of the party suggests that Oceania had always done the vice versa. Also, he and his comates have had no memory of Big Brother until very lately, yet documentations have stated that Big Brother has been influencing Oceania since the 1930s.

Create a well-crafted essay of 1-2 pages outlining a likely theory of King Tutankhamun's death at the age of nineteen.

Explanation:

The Theory of Hormheb

The king’s deputy, also known as Horemheb, may have also been responsible for the death of King Tut as well. The possibility that King Tut was getting older and probably ready to take powers into his own hands may have contributed to his early demise. For many years it was believed that Hormheb guided King Tut in his royal decisions as a child. As King Tut grew older and became more independent he started making his own decisions without the aid of Horemheb. This new thinking might have upset him and he quickly saw his power fading away. This independence that King Tut was attaining might have upset him and could been the reason as to why he killed King Tut.

Though Horemheb did not get the throne after King Tut’s death he did get it after Ay. Upon becoming the pharaoh he restored Egypt to its traditional tradition which was the worshiping of the many ancient gods. He moved his capital to Memphis and returned all the temples to their rightful priests. During his reign as pharaoh he removed any signs of Akhenaten’s religion.

By his actions, many Egyptologists and historians strongly assume that Horemheb wanted to restore Egypt to its traditional ways. Although, in hindsight, it appears that King Tut was also leaning in the direction of restoring Egypt to the more habitual ways before his death—it might not have been fast enough for Horemheb though.

Mohamed El-Saghir, head of Upper Egyptian Antiquities, believes that Horemheb could not have committed the murder of the pharaoh. Mohamed believes that because King Tut was restoring Egypt to its traditional ways, Horemheb would not have had any reason to kill him. He does find it interesting that Horemheb removed King Tut’s name from several items and replaced it with his. Even so, it’s still not enough evidence and most pharaohs always tried to outdo the pharaohs before them.
