After rebuilding from the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii took a turn for the better. In 1959, Hawaii became part of the United States of America. This did wonders for the economy, (as far as plantation farming for sugar and pineapples). It also saw more people coming in as a fact of tourism. In 1959, two hundred forty three thousand people visited Hawaii, (Borreca A10). No one would've ever expected the now five million people a year tourist industry.</h3>
