What are three lines of evidence that support the hypothesis that our sea floor spreads apart at ocean ridges. Name and describe
Dima020 [189]

Answer:

Sea floor spreading theory is given Harry Hess the line of evidence that support this are given as under.

Explanation:

Evidence from Molten Matter

In the 1960s scientists found that there is a presence of new materials from below that need the lava to be uplifted and spread along the boundaries of mid-oceanic ridges i.e the lava or magma spreads through the active plate margins of both plates. The red sea is newly formed is an example of spreading, (a process of oceanic basin creation).

Evidence from Magnetic strips

The magnetism of the earth helped the scientists study the process of seafloor spreading as the newly formed lava gets deposited on either side of the ridges it takes the magnetic properties of the earth. The ocean floor is divided into strips of north and south after cooling.

Active and passive plate margins.

The tri-junction of plates and newly discovered plate like that od red sea and splitting of the rift valley and transform faults. Movement of continents away from each other. Examples include Eastern pacific rise and Mid Atlantic ridge.

Compression, shear, and tension are three types of stress that act on layers of rock. Explain the results that each type of stre
jenyasd209 [6]

Answer:

Compression squeezes rocks together, causing rocks to fold or fracture (break) (figure 1). ... Rocks under tension lengthen or break apart. Tension is the major type of stress at divergent plate boundaries. When forces are parallel but moving in opposite directions, the stress is called shear

Match the following:Part A1. movement of people between places on a regular basis 2. the study of population 3. average number o
AnnZ [28]

Answer:

Movement of people between places on a regular basis → cyclical migration

Study of population → demographics

average number of children a woman will have in her lifetime → fertility rate

the number of people who live in a square mile or kilometer → population density

people who leave their homelands seeking safety in a foreign country → refugees

Explanation:

Migration is the movement of people from from one place to another. A cyclical migration is a kind of movement that is a routine and are usually short.

Demographics is the study of population base on age , race, gender etc.

fertility rate is said to be the measure the number of life birth of a woman in a specific period of time . Fertility rate gives information on how fertile a woman is.

Population density is the number of people per unit area. It gives information on the population per geographical area.

Refugees are individual that have been forced to live their countries to seek refuge in another country as a result of violence or persecution.

The image shows sedimentary rock layers with index fossils and a fault.
svetlana [45]

The correct answer is - Layer 2 and layer 9 are the same relative age.

On this image we can see multiple layers that have been cut through and displaced by a fault. The layer 2 and the layer 9 despite not being at the same level, with level 2 being closer to the surface, while layer 9 deeper into the ground, we can still see signs that they actually have the same relative age.

We can notice that these two layers have the same relative age because of two things. The first thing is the index fossils, with both of these layers having the same fossils from the same geologic period. The second thing that gives us a clue is their composition which is pretty much identical, thus indicating of a same geological period.
