Luba_88 [7]

Answer:

A). How crucial the word "like" is to people's ability to communicate with each other .

Explanation:

Simile is exemplified as one of the most commonly employed literary devices to compare one thing to another with the use of 'like' and 'as'. Such comparison primarily intends to add vivid details to the description or make it more emphatic.

As per the question, the simile employed in lines 21-22 functions to demonstrate and emphasize that 'how significant the word 'like' is for people' ability to communicate with each other' which helps them build interaction and communication. The author intends to emphasize the vitality of the idea through the comparison with use of simile. Therefore, option A is the correct answer.

What happend in charlottes web
RoseWind [281]
A pig was born and was the runt of the litter and so the owner of the pigs was going to kill the pig because he wasn’t going to survive but the owners daughter took care of the pig and named him Wilber. He grew up and had different friends on the farm that he lived at and eventually made friends with Charlotte, a spider. It was going to be winter soon so the owners wanted to kill the pig(again) for Christmas dinner(I think). So Charlotte spun her web and made words in her web that said something like “fantastic pig”. So Wilber became the most famous pig ever and didn’t get eaten. Also Charlotte dies(because she is a spider and they dont live long), she had some baby’s before she died and told Wilber to take care of them till they hatched. And they hatched a few months later and that was pretty much it.

11-20. Read the following passage from Thomas Paine's The Crisis (1776) carefully before you choose your
Bess [88]

Answer: c. The Tory tavern keeper who makes a thoughtless statement in front of a child.

Explanation:

Thomas Paine wrote The Crisis during the American Civil War in order to inspire the colonists in their struggle against the British.

In this selection, Thomas Paine uses the anecdote of a Tory tavern keeper who said that he would rather have peace whilst he is alive as opposed to fighting the British.

Thomas Paine thought this statement thoughtless because he believed that a parent such as the tavern keeper, should hope for problems to happen in his time rather than in the time of his children.
