Describe the regions of the oceanic lithosphere, including the continental shelf, continental slope, and abyssal plain.
Minchanka [31]
The oceanic lithosphere consists of the upper part of the Earth's crust that is submerged beneath the oceans. It is primarily made up of basalt, but can consist of other forms of sediment deposited by rivers or currents; the basalt feature exists due to the oceanic lithosphere's creation via divergent tectonic activity. The continental shelf is a portion of the crust that is of higher elevation than the rest of the ocean due to its connection to the less dense continental lithosphere. The continental slope, therefore, is the portion of the crust where the continental shelf decreases in elevation as it meets the denser oceanic lithosphere. Abyssal plains are portions of the lithosphere far from spreading centers - they consist of rocks older than those near rifting centers. Due to the coolness of the plate and their distance from rifting centers, abyssal plains are some of the lowest continuous portions of the lithosphere (cool rock is denser and thus sinks to a lower elevation). Since they are very much inactive, abyssal plains are coated with sediment and are very, very flat.

Which South American country achieved independence without violent revolt?
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer:

C. Brazil

Explanation:

The South American country that managed to achieve independence is actually the largest and most populous country, Brazil. Brazil has been established as a Portuguese colony during the Age of Exploration.

The Portuguese saw what is now Brazil as an excellent territory for making a colony where large plantations of cash crops will be established, thus to make lot of wealth from them. That functioned well for some time, but the authorities in Brazil gradually started to become more and more powerful.

With the colony slowly becoming more and more independent, and the population growing rapidly and surpassing the one of Portugal, Brazil decided that it wanted to be independent. While the Portuguese were not fond of this idea, they saw that it would be impossible for them to win a war with Brazil at that time, so the independence was gained through negotiations.

Portugal and Brazil kept close thighs and good relations, and still do.

Discuss the rationale for retaining strong ethnic identity in the united states as opposed to full assimilation into the America
photoshop1234 [79]
Many individuals who come from other countries seek to retain their ethnic identity rather than seeking to assimilate to an "American" identity due to their desires to retain their culture and their history even though they are in a new place. This could come in many forms such as the continued use of native language, continuing traditions, and many other ways.

There are numerous faults represented on the map The main type observed are thrust faults. The area around Salt Lake is approximately between Quaternary to late Tertiary based on the map. The main geologic unit in this area is composed of alluvial, glacial and lake sediments. Middle Tertiary volcanic rocks can be found south of Richfield. Pre-Cambrian metamorphic (narrow outcrop east of the Great Salt Lake) and igneous rocks are the oldest represented on the map. The youngest rocks are Quaternary salt flats found mainly south-west of the Salt Lake. Intrusive rock outcrops can be found in different areas on the map. Outcrops can be observed southeast of Richfield, south-east of Ceder Clay and North of Lake Powell. Coal is the fossil fuel type present in the Green River and Price area.
