Hello. You forgot to show the answer options. The options are:

She brings her cat, Seal, with her when she comes to the farm from Maine.

She says that she once learned how to ride a horse when she was young.

She talks about the chickens and cows and horses her brother owns.

She cries and shouts at the turkey buzzards who come to eat the dead

Answer:

She brings her cat, Seal, with her when she comes to the farm from Maine.

Explanation:

Sarah was unable to leave her cat in the care of other people, as she felt she needed to take care of the animals that were under her responsibility. In addition, she felt a very strong attachment to these animals that made her feel that she should care for them and promote a good quality of life, where animals are loved and valued, as care and admiration would allow them to have a happy life and that made her happy too.

Which sentence contains a double negative? A. The dog can’t help but chase the cat. B. The dog can’t help chasing the cat.
Free_Kalibri [48]
The answer is A The dog can't help is negative because because it has the word can't and but chase the cat is negative because a cat is being chase by a dog and the dog might even kill the cat.

The book is WOODSONG (search up woodsong and you get a bunch of info about it)
barxatty [35]

Answer:

My response would be:

The reader learns that the ice is very thin. They know this because in the phrase  "It was early winter and the ice on the lake wasn’t thick enough to support the sled and team or I would have gone across the middle." It clearly states the ice wasn't thick enough to go across the lake. This prepares the reader for what happens in the story by foreshadowing the ice cracking later on in the story.

(I don't know if the ice will crack later on in the story though)
