How many magazines were there in all?
2nd?-in the first problem, the amount of money cynthia pays is a function of the number of magazines she bought.
a- write an equation that shows what cynthia pays dollars (d) for the number of magazines (m) shes buys.

1. She paid .2 per magazine, so .2*number of magazines = 10. So the number of magazines she bought was 10/.2, or 50. Since that was only half of them, there were 100 total.
2. a d=.2m
b. You make a function table. Just plug the points into d=.2m

Three of these expressions are equal to the volume of the barn shown. Which expression is not?
timurjin [86]

The statement that does not match the others is the one at lower right.

_____

The barn's volume can be decomposed into a rectangular prism and a triangular one. Thus the <em>upper right</em> expression is a true represenation of the barn's volume:

... Volume of triangular prism + Volume of rectangular prism

The volume of a <em>rectangular prism</em> is the product of its dimensions. The dimensions of the rectangular prism portion of the barn's volume are a, b, c, so the volume of that portion is ...

... Volume of rectangular prism = a·b·c

The volume of a <em>triangular prism</em> is the area of the triangular base multiplied by the length of the prism. Here, the triangular base has base dimension b and height (d-c), so its area is ...

... Area of triangular barn end = (1/2)b(d-c)

Since the length of the barn is "a", the volume of the triangular prism is ...

... Volume of triangular prism = (1/2)b(d-c)a = (1/2)·a·b·(d-c)

The <em>total volume</em> is the sum of the volumes of the parts ...

... a·b·c + (1/2)·a·b·(d-c) . . . . . . matches the <em>upper right</em> selection

This can be factored by removing a·b to outside parentheses:

... a·b·((1/2)·(d-c) + c) . . . . . . . . . matches the <em>lower left</em> selection

___

Since the two left selections match the one at upper right, the odd one is the one at lower left.

Which expression is equivalent to one over five m − 20? (4 points)
exis [7]

Answer:

The equivalent to one over five m − 20 is one over five (m − 100) ⇒ B

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us solve the question

∵ One over five means \frac{1}{5}

∴ One over five m - 20 = \frac{1}{5} m - 20

→ By using the distributive property, take one over five as a common factor

  from both terms

∴ \frac{1}{5} m - 20 = \frac{1}{5} (\frac{\frac{1}{5}m}{\frac{1}{5}} - \frac{20}{\frac{1}{5}})

→ Simplify the bracket

∵  \frac{1}{5} m ÷ \frac{1}{5} = \frac{1}{5} m × 5 = m

∵ 20 ÷  \frac{1}{5}  = 20 × 5 = 100

∴  \frac{1}{5} (\frac{\frac{1}{5}m}{\frac{1}{5}} - \frac{20}{\frac{1}{5}}) = \frac{1}{5} (m - 100)

∴ \frac{1}{5} m - 20 = \frac{1}{5} (m - 100)

The equivalent to one over five m − 20 is one over five (m − 100)

-10x+5y=0 -4x-6y=54 find the solution of this system of equations
yaroslaw [1]
We have the first equation:
-10x + 5y = zero
we can divide all terms by 5 to get:
-2x + y = zero
This means that:
y = 2x .................> equation I

We now will look at the second equation:
<span>-4x-6y=54
</span>we will substitute with equation I in this equation to get:
<span>-4x-6(2x)=54
-4x - 12x = 54
-16x = 54
x = -3.375

Substitute with the value of x in equation I to get y as follows:
y = 2(3.375) = -6.75

Therefore, for the given system of equations:
x = -3.375
y = -6.75</span>
