How long were the kids from lord of the flies on the island?
Lelechka [254]

Perhaps two months at most. There was no noticeable change in seasons, although a tropical locale could account for that. Their clothes got ragged and hair grew long. It's interesting that they made no attempt to track the passage of time. Strange that no one had even a pocket watch.

Which statements about radioactive decay are true? Check all that apply.
siniylev [52]

The process of spontaneous breakdown of an atomic nucleus and the release of energy and matter from the nucleus is called Radioactive Decay. Radioactive isotopes are elements with a very unstable nucleus. They are always trying to stabilize and to do that they release energy and transmute into other elements which are stable. Transmutation can occur in nature and by artificial means.

Based on the former evidence, the answer to this question is:

Radioactive decay happens when one kind of atom becomes another kind.

Carbon-14 decays into nitrogen-14.

Radioactive elements occur in nature.

Why is the possible british invasion of holland so importaint to the residents of the annexe?
Andreyy89
This event would have a huge impact on those hiding in the annex.

They are hiding in Holland, so a British invasion would directly impact them. While they'd welcome the British removing the Germans, they would have to contend with Germany defending their territory first.

To that end, the Germans treated to flood Holland. If so, the members of the annex would have to decide whether to stay or flee. Either one could be deadly. The Germans might also forcibly evacuate Holland. If that were the case, they would again have to decide whether to continue to hide in an abandoned city or leave and risk being caught by the Germans.

Ultimately, they decide that it would be best to remain in hiding.
