Mayella Ewell is not a sympathetic character. She was portrayed in the book as someone who accused an innocent man, because she knew that he would be found guilty because of his skin color, while she would be seen as a victim, which would take away all the guilt that she could have, besides that, she would not make the family ashamed for her actions, nor would she be punished by society and her father.

Although we can understand her behavior as a form and protect ourselves, we must not forget that the unjust accusation she made ended the life of someone who had done nothing wrong.
