Why are assemblages of fossils seen in successive geological periods so different?
notsponge [240]

The reason behind the assemblages of fossils is so different because there was a rapid continental drift.

What is continental drift?

When there was a motion that took place among the tectonic plates and as a result there was the movement of the continents. It was a hypothesis in the context of the Earth's continents.

According to it, it is the Earth's continents that have been moved over geologic time relative to each other. Because of all this, there was an appearance of the drift across the ocean bed. All this resulted in assemblages of fossils in such a way, that it appears different on different continents.

Thus, the assemblages of fossils were seen so differently because there was a rapid continental drift.

Imagine that you are given a hammer, a small bottle of weak acid, and a piece of limestone about the size of a small, fat dog.Yo
lesya [120]

Answer:

1) Take the hammer and smash the rock

2) Put acid on the rock

Explanation:

 • Physical weathering crush a rock's physical structure changing its appearance by friction or impact, therefore, to provide a demonstration of this principle I would take the hammer and smash the rock changing its appearance with the impacts
 • In contrast, chemical weathering occurs when a chemical reaction of any kind alters a rock's chemical composition changing its appearance through erosion and degradation, therefore, to contrast this phenomenon with the physical weathering I would put acid on the rock to demonstrate the chemical degradation
