Answer:
Most people fail at some point in their lives. It’s a necessary and fundamental part of life. People have to generally fail at something before they find success. But failure is not a means to an end, nor does failure have to give any indication of permanence. What is permanent is not getting started in the first place out of fear of failure. To fail is to fail to hit one’s target, whatever it may be, but it doesn’t prevent one from trying again.
I thought I failed everybody once. My family, my friends, my brothers girlfriend. Everybody. It was the 10th October 2001. My brother and I decided we were going to join the army. We were posted in Afghanistan and went straight into battle. He joined as a gunner and I as a medic. We obviously recieved basic training but we were not perpared for this. It's as if time slows down in the midst of a battle. My brother charged ahead as I stayed, slowly jogging towards the malevelont enemies.
Then, I saw my brother-struck down with a bullet. My heart sank. I thought that was the end. I thought I had failed him. I should have been there protecting him. I guess God gives second chances. I grabbed him over my shoulder and charged towards the ambulance. Everything from there onwards was a bit of a blur. He was raced to the hospital. All I know is he's alive. I may have failed in one respect but I was given a second chance and for that I am forever greatful. From my failure, I learned it is never too late.

Answer:
The correct answer is D. It helps move the plot forward
Explanation:
In the development of a story (plot), the character's motivation comprises the reasons or situations that define a character's identity and actions in the story. Moreover, this element does not only influence the character but also influences the whole story. Indeed, this moves the plot; for example, the decision of the character to face the main conflict and try to solve it moves the story from the climax to the falling action and then the resolution.
