Does anyone have any good revision techniques that aren’t too boring but work? I know it’s a big ask but I’m open to any ideas,
Romashka [77]
My memory is normally horrible. xD
However, it does help to write things down. For formulas I assume you mean like math and science? I used to love going and buying that stack of sticky notes that's different colors and taking different color markers, and then like on a board or on the wall and color coding all my formulas, that made them easy to find. I also included the lesson and what page I found the formula on, that way if on a test or some thing you need information on it, it was easy to find.

As for analyzing a piece of writing, if its on paper I usually use a highlighter, and if its on the computer you can make a power point or word document with pictures and notes, I used to illustrate out my notes. This is great for visual learners, if you're an audio learner create song lyrics using the information you need to know, pick an instrumental you like and put that song with your notes, hum it till you remember the lyrics.

Just do some research on what type of learner you are and what's best suited for those type of people, then get creative and twist their ideas to suit you and your needs better.

How does the relationship between tone and diction differ from the relationship between mood and diction?
Aneli [31]

The correct answer is D. Tone is determined by diction, while mood is affected by many things

Explanation:

In literature, the tone refers to the way the author addresses issues or the feelings and attitudes he or she expresses about the main subject matter, because of this, the tone can be mainly identified through the diction that is the words the author choose to express different elements in a literary piece. As a result, tone relies mainly on diction.

On the other hand, the mood refers to the atmosphere the author creates in a literary work and the feeling or emotions this atmosphere causes in the readers. As tone, mood is also influenced by the choice of words or diction, but there are also other elements that contribute to the mood including the setting as a story with a sad or scary mood  takes place in a different setting that one with a cheerful mood; the use of description that provide vivid details to explain the atmosphere; the tone of the author and the use of pauses and similar devices to create rhythm. Consequently, it can be concluded that while the tone is determined by diction, the mood is affected by many things and not only diction.

Write a summary of “The Seventh Man” that includes key events and details but not personal opinions or judgments.
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer: The story "The Seventh Man" from Haruki Murakami begins with a meeting where there are seven people, and each of them is to speek. The main character of the story is the last person to talk: the Seventh Man.

The man tells how, when he was ten years old, a typhoon and a tsunami struck his hometown. After the typhoon ended, he and his best friend, who he simply calls "K", went out to assess the damages it caused. However, when they were outside, a gigantic tsunami started to form. The man realized this, and wanted to warn K, but instinctively ran away in fear. The tsunami caught both of the boys, but only the narrator survived.

The man carried the guilt of having abandoned his friend with him throughout all his life. He developed a terrible fear of water and for the next forty years he had no happiness.

After the man's parents died, he came back to his hometown where, after finding some old drawing K had done, he went to the shore and understood that he had been foolish to not face his fears.

At the end of the story, the setting returned to the meeting where the Seventh Man was proclaiming that the worst thing a man can do is live in fear and let that steal something precious away for him.

STALIN [3.7K]

1. c. immense : small

2. c. meek : humble

3. d. authenticity : truth

4. a. strict : stern

Explanation:

I have been able to select the lettered word pair that best expresses a relationship similar to that of the capitalized word pair.

In number 1, interior and exterior are opposite, therefore the answer that shows the same relationshipis option c -immense : small.

In number 2, gloomy and dismal are synonymous. Option c is the correct word pair that expresses the same relationship; meek : humble.

Numbers 3 and 4 are word pairs that are synonymous to each other.
