Culturally and linguistically different students are students who come mostly from foreign lands and cultures and thus have ways of life and languages that differ from those of their present countries. They most times have a hard time adapting to the educational settings of the new countries that they find themselves in and might have to be enrolled in special education programs like the Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Some factors that might have contributed to such situations include;

1. Difficulty learning the language of the new country: They might struggle with multi-syllabic words, the phonics and syntax of the new language.

2. Inadequate support systems at home: Their parents might be caught up with work and making their own adjustments to the new country that they sometimes are oblivious to the needs and struggles of their children.

3. Bullying or segregation by their peers: Class and school mates of these set of kids who are natives might mock them for being different. This might affect them psychologically and thus slow their progress.
