1) Ola taxi charges a $8 flat rate in addition to $2 per mile. Paul has no more than $10 to spend on a ride.

2) Let x be the number of miles.

Then, we have inequality:  $8x+2\leq 10$

Solve the inequality: $8x+2\leq 10$

Subtract 2 from both the sides:  $8x+2-2\leq 10-2$

Simplify: $8x\geq 8$

Divide by 8 both sides we get: $x\leq 1$

as shown in figure 1.

3) From the context of the problem :  we can say that Paul can travel 1 miles or less before reaching his limit of $10.
