MLA FORMAT: IN-TEXT CITATIONS EXERCISE 24.2A Fix the following parenthetical citation errors . 1. Faulkner's gothic influence ca
MatroZZZ [7]

The parenthetical citation errors, according to the MLA Format, in the sentences are corrected as follows:

1. (Kerr, "Symbols of Sutpen's Megalomania" 48). The title is included in the parenthesis.

2. (MacGregor 50). The full-stop comes after the parenthetical citation and not before.

3. (National Research council 21). There is no full-stop before the parenthetical citation.

4. (Janis et al. 611). Put a full-stop after the parenthetical citation.

5. (Shaw 96). The full-stop comes after the parenthetical citation.

What is a parenthetical citation?

A parenthetical citation is an in-text citation used to summarize, paraphrase, or quote from another source.

The MLA parenthetical in-text citation style uses the author's last name and a page number; for example: (MacGregor 122) without any comma separating the last name and the page number.

The purpose of the MLA parenthetical in-text citation is to direct readers to the entry in the works-cited list, which must be included at the end of the report. See attached image for further understanding.
