El orden arquitectónico más usado durante el periodo helenístico fue el eclecticismo en la elección de las obras arquitectónicas a realizar, lo cual fomentó una mayor libertad en los diseños arquitectónicos.

Los arquitectos helenistas usaron cemento natural para producir el hormigón de las estructuras. Estos arquitectos fueron capaces de diseñar grandes ciudades bien urbanizadas, como fue le caso de Alexandria, en Egipto.

Durante este periodo se construyeron dos magnas obras que están clasificadas como maravillas del mundo antiguo: el coloso de Rodas y el Faro de Alexandria,
