How does Orwell use irony in this excerpt?
sp2606 [1]

Orwell uses irony in the excerpt from "Animal Farm" because the text shows that the animals expected a different outcome than the reality they are facing.

What is irony?

The term irony refers to situations in which the outcome or consequence is not what was expected. In "Animal Farm," irony is found in the way the animals are treated after their revolution against humans.

In the excerpt we are analyzing here, the animals expected to have an easier life with luxuries brought by the use of the windmill and electricity. However, they face a completely different reality, and their leader tells them they will only work harder and live more frugally.

With the information above in mind, we can select option C as the correct answer.

The complete question is attached.

Of Mice and Men.
This book presents the segregation and inequality of the 1930’s and make the reader - me - realize how lucky we are to be living in the 21st century where equality can be fought for. This book also presents men (humans) to be similar to mice - small and petty in many different ways.
A quote from the book presenting racism is, “This is just a ni**er talkin’, an’ a busted-back ni**er. So it don’t mean nothing, see?”
