Why do some historians prefer using the term “independent internationalism” instead of “isolationism” to describe America’s fore

Answer:

Isolationism was the complete lack of contact and participation in foreign affairs and wars ect. But describing America's foreign policy in the 1920's with the word "isolationism" is simply not correct. America supplied Allies with rescources and engineering knowlege prior to their intervention in world war one and in the 1920's America was one of the countries to force Germany into paying reperations for the war and they had to intervene multiple times which in by no means an example of Isolationism.
