Answer:

America declared its independence in 1776, but it took another five years to win freedom from the British. That day came on October 19, 1781, when the British General Charles Cornwallis surrendered his troops in Yorktown, Virginia.

General Cornwallis brought 8,000 British troops to Yorktown. They expected help from British ships sent from New York. The British ships never arrived. That was lucky for General George Washington and the Continental army. The thirteen colonies found their opportunity to beat the world's largest empire.

hope this helps :P

BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

Option: 1. B. Nation Was Expanding West

2. D. Extend American liberty to new territories

Explanation:

The slavery question became an issue in the 1840s and 1850s because America was expanding its territories in the West. Many settlers from the East left their homes and began a new journey towards the West where land was available at a reasonable price with vast acres of land to farm and for ranching.

Manifest destiny played a key role for the settlers to move in the American west. It also increased America hold in the West by allowing American to settle and farm. Americans were able to expand their institutions and traditions in new areas.

What did jay’s Treaty secure for the United States from the British
NNADVOKAT [17]

Answer:

Jay’s Treaty was an agreement between the United States and Great Britain signed on November 19, 1794 intended to avert war and resolve issues between the two countries that had lingered since the end of the American Revolutionary War. While it was unpopular with the American public, the treaty succeeded in ensuring a decade of peaceful and mutually profitable trade between the United States and Britain during the French Revolutionary Wars. The treaty was signed by President George Washington on November 19, 1794 and approved by the U.S. Senate on June 24, 1795. It was then ratified by the British Parliament and took effect on February 29, 1796. Officially titled, “Treaty of Amity, Commerce, and Navigation, Between His Britannic Majesty and the United States of America,” and also called “Jay Treaty,” the pact draws its name from John Jay, its chief U.S. negotiator.
