Answer:

The detail that helps shape the central idea of believing and trusting in yourself is:

Mr. Bixby asks, “Didn’t you know there was no bottom in that crossing?”

Explanation:

In "A Cub Pilot", Samuel is initially confident in his abilities to navigate without Mr. Bixby. That is why he says he can do it with his eyes shut. However, Mr. Bixby asks him if he is sure he can really do it. From this point on, Samuel doubts himself. Even though he does know how to do it, he becomes unsure of his ability. However, that was just a test. Mr. Bixby wanted him to learn to believe in himself, to not doubt his own skills. That is why he asks, “Didn’t you know there was no bottom in that crossing?”

In chapter seven; what trust does gandalf lay on bilbo? and do you think bilbo can fufill it?
Leokris [45]

Well it's pretty clear that he is trusting Bilbo to live up to his potential. He chose him because he could see there was "more about him than you guess". He is trusting him to take on more responsibility and to be able to "look after the dwarfs" Bilbo is to start showing his talents and thinking on his feet. help them stay out of danger. As to whether or not he can that's got to come from you.

I cannot provide you with the page number because not all books of the same name have the exact amount of pages.
