Puberty is the period during which an individual becomes capable of sexual reproduction. It comes from the Latin word pubertas which means "adult". This period involves all the changes in physical aspect that occur in the developing boy or girl as the individual passes from childhood to adulthood. The young people go through puberty earlier and enter into adult roles of work and family later compared to 100 years ago and today's transition into adulthood is long and disorderly compared to the situation 50 to 60 years ago.
