Answer:

It creates surprise since both women find out that they are engaged to a different man who called himself Earnest Worthing.

Explanation:

When the two women finally realize that they had been dating men with different identities who called themselves Earnest Worthing, they are surprised. Surprise is a state of shock because an event or fact is unexpected.

The knowledge that what they knew as true was not really true must have been a source of shock and surprise to the two ladies.

What would be an opposing/counter-argument of how it's hard being an adult?
Mila [183]
You could say:
Being an adult gives you freedom. It allows you to be your own person and chase you own dreams. You can go wherever you want to go without anyone telling you no!(lol that rhymed). As an adult you can do things you were never able to do as a child. Like wearing what you want to wear, buying a living space, and saying what you feel you should say.

The answer would be D.
In the story, it shows that he leaned his basic numbers by helping his father count and sort the rocks, hinting that he didn’t have the time to go to school and had to learn things on his own, in his own way :)

Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

This excerpt is taken from The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe.

Explanation:

Poe is considered by many critics as being in his element when he wrote this in 1839. His penchant for building structure echoing emotions of fear, guilt and shame, are very evident in the way Roderick and Madeline interacted. Like the Tell-Tale Heart, Roderick is eaten by guilt and fear at burying his sister alive. This brings upon the fall of Roderick Usher's home.
