Answer:

What we come to learn has caused Betty's affliction is:

B. She is desperately frightened because her father has seen her meddling with witchcraft.

Explanation:

Betty is only ten years old and extremely scared of her father, Reverend Parris. <u>The reason behind her fear at this moment is her having been caught by Rev. Parris dancing in the woods in what seemed to be a ritual connected to witchcraft. Afraid of being punished, Betty falls ill, leading others to believe she has been bewitched. In fact, she is just frightened she will be punished. </u>"The Crucible" is set during the witch trials which, as is widely known nowadays, were cruel and unfair. It is understandable that Betty would be so afraid of the punishment that she would get sick.

Answer: C. The hobbits live together near a great field.

The correct option would be C. Option A assumes that the ropes and poles are there because of a birthday party, but the passage makes no mention of the cause. Option B similarly assumes that Bilbo is the cause of this commotion, which the passage similarly does not state. Option D claims Gaffer Gamgee to be lazy, even though the passage claims he was distracted, and not necessarily lazy. Option C, however, states that the hobbits live together near a field, which is information that is included in the passage.

The psychological effects are based on Jane's perspective. Every person has a level of control over their mind. If she chooses to let it be a detrimental thing, it will be. If she chooses to let it strengthen her, it will. I think that Jane's life would be completely different if she had grown up with her parents, and not necessarily in a positive OR a negative way. She would just perceive things differently in her day to day life because she would have had a completely different experience in her childhood. I think so because knowledge and action correspond. If she has the knowledge of something, she can act on it. Every individual holds the key to their own happiness- whether they chose to use the key is on them.
