Typically it's just not knowing your oppurtinuities, but your obligations as a citizen. Another reason why it's essential to know about civics, is becoming a responsible citizen. A responsible citizen knows what they should and should not do, this being a common, but big factor of civics. With these, people can use all these correctly in the intrest of the nation.
