Answer:

Jackson builds the plot around Charles's bad influence on Laurie, making the reader believe that the whole story will develop with this structure and believe that the climax will be the moment Charles is confronted. However, the author makes the climax also the resolution of the story and that this is focused on Laurie and not Charle. This happens at the moment when Laurie's parents and the reader discover that Charle does not exist, which triggers a surprise effect, in addition to showing a full use of irony.

Explanation:

The short story "Charles" tells the story of Laurie who was a very kind boy, but who suddenly starts to develop very disobedient behaviors that scares his parents, who try to find out the reason why Laurie is doing this. Laurie says this is how his class friend Charlie behaves. Thus, Laurie's parents conclude that Charlie is a bad influence and decide to talk to the boys' teacher so that Charlie is confronted. However, the teacher states that there is no student named Charlie and that Laurie invented this boy.

The main idea of this passage is that dragons might exist.. Even though others say that dragons aren't real because science says that there is no way that dragons ever existed, she found many ways that science is wrong. Abigail found multiple ways that dragons might even exist. For example, she though it was weird that multiple cultures thought in very similar ways how dragons looked even though these cultures had no way to communicate. Also, that the Chinese calendar used dragons in it with 11 other real animals. Abigail found that dragons were not only in stories but in things like the Bible and in Marco Polo's logs.                         All ready did it.

Aleonysh [2.5K]
The height of the ceiling held my fancy as I stared wistfully at it. It was either that or receive chores to do if I were to creep out of the living room where I hid from my mother. The concept of "leisure time" held no definition to her and she couldn't see the point in such a thing. The weight of this reality must have deceived her brain as a child, now she does the neighborly thing and pass the deceitful practice onto me. Regardless of the fact that I had just had my eightieth birthday, making me of course eighteen, an adult. Neither this fact or any fact for that matter could make her change her mind, once the thought was running a never ending sleigh ride in her head, it never left its path.

I hope I helped a bit!
