I made a risky challenge, and it was definitely worth it. My friends and I were running, practicing our endurance limits, and it came down to me having to jump over a 5 foot gap. I was almost out of breath. I saw the gap and within that moment time slowed down, and I thoight to myself, "You can do this." I boosted in speed, jumped across the gap, and made it.

it seems his expectation of war was not met, like he had a whole blood bath in mind(like a movie) but he ended up just doing standard jarhead tasks, not heroic missions like he was told war would be like
