where x₁ = 2

           y₁ = 4

           x₂ = 6

           y₂ = 3

Distance = √(x₂ - x₁)² + (y₂ - y₁)²

∴ d = √(6-2)² + (3-4)²    

   d  = √(4)² + (-1)²

    d = √16 + 1

    d = √17

Therefore, he is correct.

Distance is known to be a numerical measurement which ascertains  how far apart objects or points are.
