Old English is mostly influenced by the Germans. There was mostly influence of the Germanic base in varying degrees on the Old English. There is great influence of Latin and French on the modern English. There is an impact on grammar, syntax and pronunciations of the Modern English.
To have peace, we must go to war. To achieve something, you must do the opposite, which is an oxymoron, or an example of one. Example- "pretty ugly" or "quiet presence".
