Chavez's example shows that nonviolent protest can work well. It shows that one nonviolent man can stop a mob, which proves Chavez's point and persuades people to protest nonviolently.

This supports his purpose because the example is showing that fighting without violence can be done. The example shows that there is no need to fight, that a nonviolent person can stop a mob. This is persuading people that they can protest without the violence included.
