Answer:

The purpose of this photograph is to show a part of nature which is the glacier and transmit the most magnificent natural environments. The type of photography this photograph fits is nature photography. This photographer didn't use sense of scale in this photograph, they could have put in an animal or a tourist to show the size of the glacier and its surroundings. The subject in this photograph is the glacier, I know this because there is no other main focus in the photograph. Almost the whole photo is taken up by the glacier and only a little part shows water and the blue sky at the top.

The oil depicts the execution of John the Baptist and is the only work that Caravaggio ever signed.

Explanation:

It is the only work by Caravaggio to bear the artist's signature, which he placed in red blood spilling from the Baptist's cut throat. There is considerable empty space in the image, but because the canvas is quite large the figures are approximately life-sized.
