We can murder, but the murder is not real. Our thirst for blood is not satisfied through any means. But we can kill to our hearts content on a video game.

But we may not seek the dark side. Perhaps it is love that we want. Love is not easily found, and it is not always returned. Video games fulfill this as well. The heroine (or hero) may genuinely return love or at least express gratitude for what we have done.

You likely have heard someone one older say "Life is not a video game."

It isn't, but what the video game offers may not be so bad.
