An autoimmune problem involving the thyroid gland. Hyposecretion of growth hormone. Hyposecretion of the pancreas. Hyposecretion
Oliga [24]

Answer:

An autoimmune problem involving the thyroid gland: C. Graves' disease

Hyposecretion of growth hormone: Pituitary dwarfism

Hyposecretion of the pancreas: E. Diabetes mellitus

Hyposecretion of the adrenal cortex: B. Addison's disease

Hypersecretion of growth hormone: A. Acromegaly

Explanation:

Growth hormone is the hormone from the anterior pituitary gland that targets the tissues such as muscles, bones, cartilage, liver, etc. and stimulates the somatic growth of the body. Its hypersecretion leads to acromegaly in adults while its hyposecretion causes dwarfism in children characterized by stunted growth. There is abnormal thickening of specific bones in acromegaly.

Pancreatic hormone insulin serves to lower down the blood glucose levels. Insulin deficiency causes diabetes mellitus characterized by higher blood glucose levels in the affected person.

Hyposecretion of glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoid from adrenal cortex causes Addison's disease characterized by rapid weight loss, lower levels of glucose and sodium in plasma while a rise in potassium levels.

Grave's disease is an autoimmune disease wherein the thyroid gland is stimulated for increased secretion of thyroxine resulting in protruded eyeballs.

Mental processes such as thought, language, memory, and speech are processed in the ______ areas of the cerebral cortex.
xxMikexx [17]

Answer:

Frontal lobe

Explanation:

They areas of the cerebral cortex is divided into major four compartments.

  • The frontal lobe
  • The temporal lobe
  • The parietal lobe
  • The occipital lobe

The frontal lobe is situated at the anterior part of the brain whose main function is required in handling of mental processes such as thought, language, memory and speech. With the aid of the frontal lobe, we are able to think, communicate and process information.

The temporal lobe which is located beneath the frontal, parietal and occipital lobe helps to fine tune sounds and plays an integral role in hearing.

The parietal lobe is found at the back of the frontal lobe and also just above the temporal lobe helps to maintain body balance and trigger the body in cases of alertness.

The occipital lobe is located at the posterior region of the brain whose main function is reserved for visual perception.

What primary event has occurred when a client experiences an ectopic focus?
Andreyy89
Ectopic focus or ectopic pacemaker happens when an excitable group of cells outside the normal sinoatrial node causes premature heartbeat. Sinoatrial node (SA node) is the pacemaker of the heart. Most people experience ectopic focus but persistent occurrence may need the client/patient to visit the doctor. If a client or patient complains of ectopic focus, it is better to consider his/her activity before visiting the clinic. Ask, for example if the client/patient had a vigorous exercise because it might be causing the irregular heartbeat, how often is he/she experiences such irregularity in his/her heartbeat (acute ectopic foci is usually non-life threatening, however, chronic type requires medical help), his/her lifestyle (he/she might be using illegal drugs, smokes and/or drinks alcohol, had too much coffee etc). Again, history taking is very vital.
