Although unemployed workers usually suffer a discount of income, its extent varies relying on different earnings sources, such as savings and income-generating asset holdings, unemployment insurance and private transfers. Non-pecuniary consequences such as the loss of identification and self-esteem, stress and depression additionally depend on the individual, family and social instances surrounding unemployed workers. On the different hand, unemployed people acquire time for activities such as leisure, training, physical workout and home activities. Therefore, in evaluating the effect of unemployment on man or woman well-being, we have to reflect on consideration on all these relevant factors as well.
