The Dakota believes the U.S government was focused on the Civil war and would not fight back. They should attack right away. They believed that if they waited, the government would punish all of the Dakota for the young men killing the white settlers at Action.<span />
It’s been a while since I’ve read the Odysseus, however, If I remember correctly, the harp upon returning home represents Odysseus’s happiness upon returning home after having endured a long journey (which will soon change in a later part of the story). I hope this helped !
