The main causes of the French Revolution were Economic Troubles, Meeting the Estates General, Having a Weak Leader, National Assembly, Enlightenment Ideas and Tennis Court Oath.

These are pretty straight forward reasons on why there were so many problems within the French Revolution; without a strong leader, you are practically hopeless.
