Hemisphaerota cyanea, also known as the palmetto tortoise beetle, is a type of leaf beetle that cover themselves with their own feces, just to persuade most predators to pass them by. This form of outrageous defense, developed by the crafty beetle, was discovered by biologists at the Cornel university.  

The feces comes out of the hindgut of the beetle, fashioned like golden strands, which can be used to protect the vulnerable body of the beetle.
