our neighbor only walks his or her dog on bright, sunny days, you might develop a theory: "People do not like walking in cold, rainy, or gloomy weather." For each theory, state the variables and the relationship, positive or negative. In the example given above, the variables are the people and the weather on a given day. The relationship is "walking." It is a positive relationship, because bright, sunny days lead to more walking, while cold, rainy, or gloomy days lead to less walking.
