This left the colonists with enormous plantations and no labor force to work on them. As the word spread out that there is slaves in abundance f=in Africa, the colonists started to buy African slaves to work on their plantations. Getting African slaves was beneficial to them in many ways; they only needed shelter and food; no wage was paid to them; the owners had all rights over them; they were good workers; the working hours were determined by the owners.
