Is the ending of Romeo and Juliet a tragedy or a triumph? Defend your answer with examples and reasons from the play
Annette [7]

Answer: Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy.

Explanation:

The prologue of this play establishes it as a tragedy by using key words like "fatal", "piteous", and "strife". Shakespeare lets the audience know from the very first lines that this is a tragic tale.

"From forth the fatal loins of these two foes

A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,

Whose misadventured piteous overthrows

Doth with their death bury their parents' strife."

Of course, he further elaborates on the tragedy through the scenes just foreshadowed. Romeo and Juliet, our protagonists both die. In a triumphant ending, we would see the protagonist achieve their desires.

There are subtle examples of the tragedy as well. In Act 2 Scene 2, Juliet laments on their unfortunate circumstance. "O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?" She isn't asking where he is, but why he has to be a Montague. Though it is a romantic scene in which they reveal their desires, it is inherently tragic. They can never truly be together.

How does the conversation with her brother affect Celeste?
lesya [120]

Answer:

A. It convinces her that she must resist the teacher's punishment.

Explanation:

Aida Bortnik's short story "Celeste's Heart," tells the story of a young girl standing up for an injustice she believes is subjected to in school. The little girl Celeste finds herself standing up for what she believes is wrong for the sake of her little brother's future.

After being punished by her teacher at school, Celeste began to change when her brother asked <em>"When am I going to go to school?"</em> This made her think of <em>"him in the middle of the schoolyard, with his arm stretched out measuring the distance, the body tense, feeling cold and angry and afraid, in a line in which all the others were as small as he was."</em> This realization made her convinced that she must resist the teacher’s punishment for the sake of her little brother.

Thus, the correct answer is option A.

Which of the following BEST describes the characteristics of a round character? A. a simplistic character that is described more
r-ruslan [8.4K]
Your answer should be D. A round character is a character that changes throughout the novel, changing some aspect of their personality. (Notice: not looks! A character that got more muscles, or became skinnier changed, but is not a round character.) I hope this helps!
