The Legislative Branch is made up of the House and Senate, known collectively as the Congress. Among other powers, the legislative branch makes all laws, declares war, regulates interstate and foreign commerce and controls taxing and spending policies.

The Executive is the Branch of Government exercising authority in and holding responsibility for the governance of a state, the executive executes and enforces law.

The judiciary is the system of courts that adjudicates legal disputes and interprets, defends, and applies the law in legal cases.

The young and aspirational Mahmud amassed the resources necessary to build a vast empire that eventually included the Kashmir and Punjab provinces as well as a significant portion of Iran in more than 20 successful expeditions.
