What did the government pay artists to do
pentagon [3]

Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko are best-known as pioneers of Abstract Expressionism. But all four were also among thousands of artists and other creatives employed by the government through the Works Progress Administration (WPA) between the years of 1935 and 1943. That the arts would be funded significantly by the federal government—never mind that it would actively employ artists—may well raise an eyebrow today. But working under a subdivision of the WPA known as the Federal Art Project, these artists got to work to help the country recover from the Great Depression, as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal.

Evidence of impoverishment and a portfolio showcasing one’s skills and commitment to the arts were all that was needed to qualify for the WPA initiative. This and the Federal Art Project’s non-discrimination clause meant that it attracted, and hired, not just white men but also artists of color and women who received little attention in the mainstream art world of the day. These artists created posters, murals, paintings, and sculptures to adorn public buildings.

rosijanka [135]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached we can say the following.

One global process or series of events in the period 1450–1750 CE that would facilitate cross-cultural exchange could be the Columbian Exchange of those years.

Cristopher Columbus discovered America on October 12, 1492, when he and his sailors arrived at the islands in the Caribbean. Spanish King Ferdinand de Aragon and Queen Isabella de Castille had sponsored the trip of Columbus because they wanted to explore new routes to the Indies and get more richness for the Spanish Kingdom. Columbus' sailors were ambitious and also wanted a piece of the pie and aspire to get some precious metals such as gold, as part of the adventure.

After the discovery of the Americas and the conquest of the most important Mesoamerican civilizations, South American civilizations, and the founding of the North American colonies such as Jamestown, Virginia, the Columbian exchange was the series of trade and exchanges between America and Europe.

Through the Columbian Exchange, nations and their colonies traded raw materials, natural resources, goods, people, culture, and diseases.

Simon Bolivar dreamed of a United States of South America. Besides geography, which factor made that dream impossible?
prisoha [69]
Besides geography, the major issue that would have made this impossible is that each "country" or state in South America was dominated by a different ruler, many of whom had fought of the Spanish--meaning that they would have never united under one title. Their cultures were also wildly different.
