Continents look as if they once fit together as one big puzzle, pangaea.
the distribution of fossils helped scientists to believe that continents were once connected because there would be some fossils of one species on part of a continent and then some other fossils of the same species on a continent across the world.
the locations of different climate zones also helped scientists develop the theory of continental drift.

Some pieces of evidence that helped the continental drift theory are:

•The continents all look like they fit together. (Like a puzzle)

•Similar types of fossils (plants and animals) of similar age have been found on the shores of different continents.

Hope this helped a little!
