The system was dubbed Star Wars.

The Strategic Defense Initiative was a missile defense system intended to protect the United States from attacks from nuclear weapons. It was announced  by President Reagan on 23 March 1983.

The SDI was nicknamed 'Star Wars' by the Democrat  Senator Ted Kennedy, after the 1977 film by George Lucas.

SDI focused on intercepting and destroying enemy missiles with lase beams, using x-rays lasers. Chemical laser was also in use, as well as neutral particle beam and hyper- velocity railgun.

SDI officially ended in 1993, under the Clinton administration.

What do you think is the allure ( draw /appeal ) of the western
nordsb [41]

Answer:

The United States desired the West because the West coast would open up the United States to Asian markets.  Eastern ports connected the U.S with Europe.  The West meant we could expand our trading power globally.

The population was rapidly growing in the East, Americans were running out of room, they had to move West.

Economic hardships (panics and depressions) in the East pushed Americans to the West.

The West had abundant,  inexpensive, and often free, land. This not only attracted eastern Americans, but poor, landless Europeans as well.

The British had their eyes on the West as well.  Prior to the Annexation of Texas, Britain had established a friendly relationship with the Republic of Texas.  They were interested in trading with Texas and keeping the U.S from expanding West.  In order to limit British influence in America, the United States decided to Annex Texas in 1845.

why were Habersham and piercy disconnected with David Margate? What did they and other whites such as George Whitefield hope for
larisa86 [58]

Answer:James Habersham, and William Piercy believed that Christianity and slavery were compatible.

Both Habersham and Piercy believed David Margate's teachings to African American Christians was aligned with the prevailing view that slaves should endure their lot in life and not challenge slavery.

They claimed that Margate's experiences in England "make him think too highly of himself " and that his inflated pride as a black person "seems so great, that he can't bear to think of any of his own color being slaves."

Explanation:

What was alarming to Habersham and Piercy was the fact that Margate served as an example of how one could fare if they attempted to escape slavery, as "he has confessed that he was only a runaway slave himself."

Because of this fact he is not in support of slavery and he wanted slavery to be rebuked...
