Answer:

We have 15 Nickels and 10 Dimes.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a system of equations! [Literally in a class reviewing that rn}

Lets make a chart:

    Number of Coins x Value of Coin = Total Value

Dimes  |   d               |   10                          | 10d

Nickels |   n               |  5                           | 5n

So, When you have a System of Equations with Money, One equations is about the value of the money, and the other about the number of coins.

The First Equation [Number of Coins]:

D + N = 25

the Second Equation [Value of Money]:

10D + 5N = 175

I will use Elimination to solve this, however, graphing and substitution works too.

ELIMINATION:

Multiply First equation by -5

-5[D + N = 25] = -5D - 5N = -125

Add the Two Equations vertically.

-5D - 5N = -125

10D + 5n = 175

---------------------

5D = 50

Divide both sides by 5.

5D/5 = 50/5

D = 10

Substitute D= 10 In any equation and solve for the other variable.

10 + N = 25

Subtract 10 from both sides.

10 - 10 + N = 25 - 10

N = 15

So, we have 15 Nickels and 10 Dimes.

From a point on the ground that is 120 feet from the base of a vertical tree, the angle of elevation to the top of the tree is 3
andriy [413]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf 69.28 \ feet}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming that the tree is perpendicular with the ground, we can use trigonometric ratios to find the height of the tree.

First, let's draw a diagram. From the point on the ground to the base, it is 120 feet and forms a 30 degree angle. We want to find the height of the tree, which is labeled h. (The diagram is attached and not to scale).

Next, recall the ratios.

  • sin(θ)= opposite/hypotenuse
  • cos(θ)= adjacent/hypotenuse
  • tan(θ)= opposite/adjacent

We see that the height is opposite the 30 degree angle and 120 is adjacent.

  • opposite=h
  • adjacent=120

Since we are given opposite and adjacent, we must use tangent.

tan ({\theta)=\frac{opposite}{adjacent}

Substitute the values in.

tan(30)=\frac{h}{120}

We are solving for h, so we must isolate it. It is being divided by 120 and the inverse of division is multiplication. Multiply both sides by 120.

120*tan(30)=\frac{h}{120}*120

120*tan(30)=h

120*0.5773502692=h

69.2820323=h

Round to the hundredth place (2 decimal places). The 2 in the thousandth place tells us to leave the 8 in the hundredth place.

69.28 \approx h

The height of the tree is about 69.28 feet.

A basketball coach collected data to analyze the free throw shooting percentages of players during a game and during practice. T
Dima020 [189]

Answer: The correct answer is option A; 78

Step-by-step explanation: The equation representing the line of best fit which is given as

y = 0.9x - 1

depicts the relationship between a player's practice results and actual game results. Whatever value is given as x which is the result from practice would be a good way of predicting a player's result when engaged in the real game.

For the question above, a player with  a practice shooting percentage of 88 would have his game shooting estimated by simply inserting the value of his practice percentage into the equation showing the line of best fit shown as follows;

y = 0.9x - 1

Where x = 88

y = 0.9 (88) - 1

y = 79.2 - 1

y = 78.2

y ≈ 78

Therefore the approximate shooting percentage for a player with a practice shooting percentage of 88 would be 78 percent.

Which equation can be solved to find one of the missing side lengths in the triangle?
frutty [35]
I think the equation would be either a perimeter equation or a volume equation.

P=a+b+c  (For a two-dimensional figure)
V=1/3 Bh (For a three-dimensional figure)
