A) The slave economy of the South had a worldwide economic reach since the majority of cotton was sold overseas and it connected the United States to the international marketplace.

B) They also resisted in more subtle ways, refusing privately to use names given to them by slave holders and maintaining their identity by keeping track of family members. Music, folk tales, and other African cultural forms also became weapons of resistance

A. The south had always been dependent on slaves or indentured servants to accomplish their main market which was the crops. Cotton cultivation was one of the main factors that led to the growth of slavery in the south. This is because there was more demand for cotton and therefore, there needed to be more people to work it. Apart from this, there was also the Southern cultural ideologies which had basically believed in slavery since the beginning. The south had always been based on cash crops and needed lots of people to work it. This led to slavery being part of the culture of the south.

B. There were many forms that African-Americans showed resistance. Some of these were rebellions, running away, causing work slowdowns, damaging tools and sabotaging and breaking the rules.
